Many veterans of prior wars who returned from combat found camaraderie and healing by socializing with each other, often in settings such as veteran service organizations. Today’s new Global War on Terrorism (GWOT) veterans and service members are looking toward finding a space that reflects and can meet their contemporary needs. We envision the creation of a Veteran Peer Community Center on the grounds of the Milwaukee VA Medical Center campus. |

IAVA’s mission is to improve the lives of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans and their families. IAVA addresses critical issues facing new veterans and their families, including mental health, Traumatic Brain Injury, a stretched VA system, inadequate health coverage for national guardsmen and reservists, and outdated GI Bill educational benefits. IAVA is dedicated to educating the public about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, advocating on behalf of those who have served, and fostering a community for troops, veterans, and their families. |

IN THEIR BOOTS is a compelling new magazine show about the dramatic impact the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are having on us - the people here at home. The show will feature our Iraq and Afghanistan service men and women, and their families, in stories that have universal appeal. Every week an episode will be built around a dramatic and emotional IN THEIR BOOTS “Real Story,” a non-fiction narrative about how our service people, their families, and their communities have been profoundly changed by the nation’s campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan. |

The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) was founded on the principle that veterans are our nation’s greatest citizens. The WWP seeks to assist those men and women of our armed forces who have been severely injured during the conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other locations around the world. Many of the injuries are traumatic amputations, gunshot wounds, burns, and blast injuries that will retire these brave warriors from military service. |
